Temple University Professor Christine Woyshner, Department Chairperson of Teaching and Learning, joined former students and now professors themselves, Jill Beccaris-Pescatore, Ph.D, Montgomery County Community College, Jodi Bornstein, Ph.D., Arcadia University, and Jessica B. Schocker, Ph.D, Pennsylvania State University, Berks Campus, when the four noted educators presented a session together at the Pennsylvania Council for the Social Studies’ 64th annual statewide Conference in Harrisburg on Friday, October 20, 2017.
Professors Woyshner, Beccaris-Pescatore, Bornstein and Schocker conducted a session entitled “Social Studies and the C3 Framework: More Important than Ever”. Their session explored the four subject areas of the C3 Framework using an inquiry approach. The subjects covered in the C3 framework are economics, geography, history, and civics. Each presenter shared engaging teaching strategies for each of the content areas, with an emphasis on diversity and social justice.
