The Middle States Council for the Social Studies (MSCSS) invites you to join educators, scholars, and practitioners this coming February at the MSCSS Annual Conference as we come together under the theme “Looking Back, Thinking Forward.” This year’s conference, held in Newark, Delaware, offers a unique opportunity to honor the foundations of our discipline while embracing bold new ideas that prepare students for the complexities of tomorrow’s world.

MSCSS is seeking dynamic sessions for the annual conference that engage participants in meaningful dialogue, practical strategies, and transformative ideas across the full spectrum of social studies education. We encourage proposals that are:

Grounded in research or classroom practice

Interactive and participant-centered

Inclusive of diverse voices and perspectives

Focused on preparing young students for the complexities of the modern world

First Timer Scholarships
The Middle States Council for the Social Studies (MSCSS) is pleased to offer a limited number of first timer scholarships to educators who have never been able to attend the MSCSS Annual Conference in the past for lack of financial support. Teachers from across the Middle States region (i.e., DC, MD, DE, PA, NJ, NY) are welcome to apply. Selected awardees may have registration and 1 night of lodging covered to attend the conference, but other potential costs would be paid by the awardee. Applications are due here by January 5, 2026.
Early Bird Registration
Register here by January 31, 2025 and save! Conference registration includes breakfast on Friday, breakfast and lunch on Saturday, and a social event on Friday evening with cocktails and light refreshments. Over the two days of the annual conference, you'll get the chance to connect with your peers while attending thought-provoking sessions that bridge historical understanding with forward-thinking pedagogy.
