2012 Conference

The 59th Pennsylvania Council for the Social Studies Conference was held:

October 11 - 13, 2012

Best Western Plus Lehigh Valley Hotel

300 Gateway Drive, Bethlehem, PA

Conference Theme:

Making Social Studies Relevant

In defining our conference theme of “Relevance” one only need to consider the parable of the “Three Blind Men and the Elephant.”  The first blind man took hold of the elephant’s trunk and said, “Social studies needs to be about real world problems.”  The second blind man took hold of the elephant’s tail, and he uttered, “Social Studies needs to be engaging.”  The third blind man touched the leg of the elephant and he shouted, “Social Studies needs to have strong content.”
