As PCSS continues to undergo a year of revision and renewal, we are working with partners to provide many events for Pennsylvania social studies educators.  Check out this opportunity—

Attention Southeast PA Educators:

You are invited to attend the first-ever PA Civics Educator Forum on October 4th at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. PA Civics recognizes that a civically healthy and vibrant democracy depends on individual citizens’ understanding of our nation’s history, its founding principles, and their civic rights and responsibilities. That learning must be infused throughout our education system. However, resources to teach social studies are increasingly marginalized relative to other subjects. K-12 educators too often have inconsistent or no access to innovative teaching methods, experiential learning activities, and content-specific training that helps foster informed and engaged future citizens. That is why the coalition is excited to launch the inaugural PA Civics Educator Forum for teachers and administrators.
This single-day conference will provide evidence-based resources and instruction strategies for educating students on numerous aspects of civic learning. The conference will leverage the expertise of PA Civics’ more than 20 partner organizations through plenary sessions and breakout sessions, with distinct tracks for primary and secondary school educators. The program will also spotlight exemplary programs already in the field. Learn more and register here.
If you do not live in Southeast PA, don’t worry. This October’s Educator Forum in Philadelphia is just the first and will be followed by gatherings in other parts of the Commonwealth in early 2025. Sign up to receive announcements for future events here.

About PA Civics
PA Civics is a statewide coalition formed in 2019 by a bipartisan group of former elected officials and nonprofit, nonpartisan organizations invested in quality civics education in Pennsylvania. PA Civics amplifies the work of its more than 20 partner organizations, which provide resources for educators, students, and citizens at-large. It also supports public policies that lead to meaningful civic education at every grade level. PA Civics is chaired by former members of Congress Jim Gerlach and Joe Hoeffel.
